I decided to give myself a break. Cut myself some slack. Chill the vibes on having to ‘have it all together’ at this point in time. I’m so super stoked on taking photos, I just had to allow myself to take a backseat in a few areas of my business, mostly social media.
I’m sorry, but it is SO HARD to stay relevant on social media-particularly Instagram. I just don’t have time to be creating content that is meaningful and authentic every single day to grow my following. When I’m inspired to create and post and engage, it’s one thing, but to force is every day to gain a following just doesn’t sit right with me. And can I say that even after stepping back from social media, PEOPLE STILL FIND ME! I actually got more inquiries and bookings since I’ve ‘slacked’ off on posting. So HA! Instagram…take that!
I am not a content creator, but I feel like because I run a small business, I kind of HAVE to be a jack of all trades. And let me tell you, it’s not as easy as it sounds, or as some people make it look. So props to all of your photographers out there making constant content and being successful. Please send any tips my way if this random blog post crosses your path.
I do feel good about where I’m at. And bookings are organically happening. My family and I have moved to Kona on the Big Island (saving that for a separate post), and I’ve been meeting more people and more opportunites are over here, so I’m trying to capitalize where I can.
Anyways, these posts seem to feel like little journal entries for me to stamp a moment in time and share my thoughts. So this is where I’m at right now. My social media isn’t exploding with new followers and new engagement, but I’m ok with that because people are still finding me. And I can still be a present Mom and wife and not have my phone glued to me to feel like I’m being productive.
I’m chilling out and stepping back with the intention of releasing control, but looking ahead to new bookings and ideas and hoping it all falls into place in the right time.
